South Orbital Road of Vicenza
Description:
The South Orbital Road of Vicenza, alongside the A4, provides a link between the western and the eastern parts of Vicenza.
The main road is located south of the built up area and runs from the large new roundabout close to the exit of the new Vicenza Ovest toll barrier, to the roundabout outside the Vicenza Est toll barrier, continuing, with a narrower road, up to the municipial district of Torri di Quartesolo.
The orbital road, which on the stretch between Vicenza Ovest and the junction with the S.P. 247 still passes through the old tunnels of the Berici Mountains which have not been used since the 3° motorway lane and new tunnels were built.
It is a very important operation for the town as it has significantly reduced travelling time along the East-West route.
In compliance with environmental laws, the infrastructure is equipped with a system for the collection and treatment of rainwater.
