Integrated management system (Quality, Motorway Safety, Environment, Social Responsibility)
The value of a company is not measured solely on the basis of the quality of products and services provided, or on the basis of the profit it manages to gain, but also on the basis of its capacity to fulfil the legitimate expectations of its stakeholders. Expectations which can be traced back to the topics connected to
economic sustainability ,
relative to the impact of the Company on the economic conditions of its stakeholders and on the economic system on a local and national level, to
social sustainability ,
that is, the impact of the Company on the social system within which it operates, and to
environmental sustainability ,
relative to the impact on the surrounding ecosystem. On the basis of these principles, Brescia-Padova Motorways has developed a gradual and integrated approach towards the management of the most important aspects of social responsibility of companies. In fact, in 2000, the Company implemented a certified quality management system which was integrated with motorway safety in 2003 (LQSA), environmental in 2004 (ISO 14001:2004) and finally, in 2005, with social responsibility (SA 8000).
Therefore the Brescia Verona Vicenza Padova Motorway Company, in doing business, assumes the following as its company principles

The
"mission"
of the Brescia Verona Vicenza Padova Motrway Company will therefore be:
To build and manage safe roads, to promote the mobility and social and economical development of the territory, compatibly with the protection of the environment. To appreciate employees, promoting their professional and personal growth and to entertain open and transparent relations with stakeholders in order to fulfil their expectations.
The Company has defined its integrated "Company policy" in order to pursue company management which is sustainable over time. It is based on fundamental and strategic aspects such as quality, motorway safety, the environment and social responsibility. Brescia-Padova Motorway has requested that all company bodies, employees and suppliers respect the principles described and that in going about their business, they pursue ethical and morally sound behaviour, sustaining measures which encourage the social, economic, environmental and educational development of the environment around them.
The "Company policy" highlights the importance to Brescia-Padova Motorway, of the freedom and dignity of each single "individual" with whom it entertains relations, and for whom it guarantees a safe and healthy workplace, equal treatment in the presence of differences of gender, religion, ethnic group and political views, trade union choice, as well as ensuring the possibility of communicating expectations, notifications and complaints.
The Company's attention is directed towards: collaborators, whose involvement and motivation it intends to favour; customers, to whom it wants to guarantee satisfaction, through the constant improvement of the service provided; suppliers, with whom it wishes to share the quality policy and the principles of social responsibility in order to promote collaborative relations.
Brescia-Padova Motorway operates in the sector of construction and management of road and motorway infrastructures, within which it implements measures aimed at improving the road system and the safety connected to it. Therefore, the Company ensures optimisation of manufacturing processes in order to improve their efficacy and efficiency and the availability of the financial resources necessary to fully realize the Financial Plan. Finally, much care is taken to ensure constant environmental protection by reducing environmental impact in compliance with current environmental legislation.
THE UNI EN ISO 9001 CERTIFICATION OF THE QUALITY SYSTEM
The Company has obtained the certification of Company Quality System, from RINA (certificate n° 4000 of 9 October 2000) in conformity with the norm UNI EN ISO 9001/1994 for the following sector of application: management of motorway services with traffic assistance, toll collection, commercial assistance, maintenance of infrastructures and road facilities, planning and directing of construction of road infrastructures.
The Quality System certification awarded to the of the Brescia Verona Vicenza Padova Motorway Company is proof of the Company pledge towards a motorway service which is attentive to the needs of its customers.
Safety, traffic flow, information, comfort and assistance are the main features of the service provided.
THE CERTIFICATION OF THE QUALITY LEVEL OF MOTORWAY SAFETY
Brescia-Padova Motorway was the first concessionary motorway company to have adopted and certified, in 2003, the measuring scheme of the quality level of Motorway Safety (certificate n° 001-03 of 28 January 2003) on the section of the A4 under their competence. The LQSA certification, in response to the requirements of the National Plan for Motorway Safety, measures 4 factors:
- the degree of adequacy of the infrastructure of the motorway roadway
- the level of functionality of the managing organization
- the number of victims
- the amount of traffic
The scheme aims to create the technical-organizational basis for improving the total efficacy of road safety policies.
THE UNI EN ISO 14001 CERTIFICATION OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEM
During 2004 the Company has also obtained the certification of the Environmental Management System from RINA (certificate n.° EMS-800/S of 25.11.2004) in compliance with the norm UNI EN ISO 14001:2004. The main aims of the above certification are to adopt an environmental protection policy which ensures the conformity of company processes to relative legislation, to enable optimal use of the natural resources available, to prevent pollution and to protect the territory.
In order to obtain this result, the Company has designed a suitable environmental improvement plan with numerous operations which have allowed the Company to refine its environmentally friendly performance.
THE SA 8000 CERTIFICATION OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
In 2005 the Company certified the Social Responsability System to conform with the international norm SA 8000:2001. The adoption of a social responsibility management system satisfies the ever more common need for companies, to have systems which are functional and attentive to ethical aspects in dealing with employees and in selecting suppliers. The main aspects monitored regard juvenile employment, working hours, retribution, safety in the workplace, freedom of association and the right to collective agreements, discrimination and disciplinary procedures. The Company has effectively defined and communicated the procedures and policies adopted to its staff and to all the other parties concerned. Two important documents are connected to the social responsibility system: The Sustainability Balance Sheet is the monitoring, accounting and therefore, communication tool, of the process of responsible management adopted by the Company. Its main aim is to represent the values and effects that the company produces on the environment and on the group of stakeholders.
CERTIFICATION OF SAFETY AND HEALTH AT WORK BS OHSAS 18001.
In 2008, at the conclusion of the certification path, the Company has implemented the management system for the safety and health at work in accordance with BS OHSAS 18001. The adoption of this system allows the company to systematize the activities aimed at monitoring and risk reduction, prevention of injuries, according to the legislation and the improvement of safety performance.
Governance
THE MODEL OF THE ORGANIZATION, MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL EX D. LGS. 231/01 AND THE CODE OF ETHICS
The Board of Directors of the Company in September 2008, it adopted the "Model of Organization, Management and Control" and the Code of Ethics to define with clarity and transparency, the values that are inspired to achieve their goals.
The rule invoked, as noted, regulates the responsibility of society as a result of the crimes committed by members of the same company.
The "Model" aims, through a structured and comprehensive system of principles and organizational procedures and controls, to prevent as far as possible the commission of crimes covered by the decree in the conduct of business.
Under the Code of Ethics, the Company finally makes explicit and send out the value system that underpins his way of being and acting.
