Cookies

Description

Cookies (literally: biscuits) are textual information which a web server sends to the navigation program. Cookies are normally used to record a unique number which identifies, alongside a username and a password, the user of a website.

How they are used on the website

The Brescia Verona Vicenza Padova S.p.A. Motorway Company uses cookie technology for the sole purpose of obtaining information regarding navigation within the website and to enable the user to access certain services which require identification of the user's navigation history over several pages. The user's identity is in no case inserted directly into a cookie and cannot be intercepted.

Enabling and disabling

Both Netscape Communicator 7.xx and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4/5/6 allow enabling/disabling of cookies. With Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x one may manage cookies by selecting Internet Options from the View menu; from the Advanced list one may select to accept all cookies, to be warned before the request for cookie memorization is accepted or to reject all cookies. With Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x enabling/disabling cookies is accessable by selecting Internet Options from the Toolbar; from the Protection list, on clicking "Personalize level..." a dialogue box opens which enables selection of the settings described above. With Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x enabling/disabling cookies is accessable by selecting Internet Options from the Toolbar; from the Protection list, on clicking "Personalize level..." a dialogue box opens which enables selection of the settings described above. With Netscape Navigator 7.x one may set up management of cookies by selecting Preferences from the Edit menu, in the Privacy and Security section click on cookies.
