ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
The Company takes the utmost care in dealing with the relation between the infrastructure and its surrounding environment. For example, in planning new motorway infrastructures, the Company takes environmental issues to heart by using all the latest anti-pollution systems (rainfall collection systems - safeguarding of hydrological regime - water draining and sound absorbing paving - lower flyovers in order to limit visual impact - environmental monitoring before, during and after work - installation of sound barriers - particular care in organizing surrounding landscape) and by carefully setting the route in its environmental, historical, orographical and morphological context. The Environmental Impact Assessment (VIA) is acquired from the Ministry of the Environment before any new work is undertaken.
For the most significant works is also prepared an environmental monitoring in order to verify compliance, both during the making of the work that the next phase of operation, the environmental conditions laid down in the Environmental Impact Study.
The company, in order to reduce noise and improve the environmental impact, in addition to phono-absorbent flooring, has built over 55 km of noise barriers, he is completing another 3 and set up the plan of abatement and containment noise, which defines the general program of interventions to mitigate noise for the next 15 years.
Annually the Company shall implement an internal program of maintenance of infrastructure and facilities aimed to maintain the safety while improving environmental performance and preventing the onset of criticality. Another aspect which is focusing the activity and differentiation of the waste.
This environmental policy has provided the basis for defining an environmental management system which is certifiable according to international law (See Integrated Management System)
